The session focuses on leveraging e-commerce and robust digital infrastructure to integrate smaller players into major supply chains.
Setting the tone for the discussion PCCI Secretary-General Ruben J. Pascual delivered the welcome remarks, emphasizing the critical role of public-private synergy in linking MSMEs to the Luzon Economic Corridor (LEC) and regional supply chains.
PCCI President Perry Ferrer highlighted that improving logistics and supply chain performance is now a national competitiveness issue, and the Philippines must move quickly, through public-private collaboration and actionable reforms, to help MSMEs and keep pace with ASEAN neighbors.
โWhat we need to do is to have one voice with our government partners.โ Ferrer stressed.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Mary Jean Pacheco highlighted the Philippinesโ high logistics costs and the need for stronger infrastructure, market linkages, workforce upskilling, and supply-chain systems to better integrate MSMEs into the LEC.
Following this, Alliance of Technology Innovators for the Nation (ATIN) Lead Convenor Monchito B. Ibrahim emphasized the need to proactively equip Philippine MSMEs to capitalize on expanding digital trade opportunities, including the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA) and emerging economic corridor initiatives. He highlighted the importance of paperless trade, digital onboarding, and logistics readiness to help MSMEs remain competitive amid growing competition from regional economies such as Thailand and Vietnam.
Supported by the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) National Endowment Project, the โFostering Public-Private Dialogue on Economic Security, Phase IIโ forum forms part of a broader series of discussions aimed at strengthening MSME competitiveness and unlocking opportunities within the LEC and emerging economic corridors.
