The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and the Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Resources organized the Philippines - Korea Business Forum, held today, March 4, 2026, at the Conrad Hotel, Manila.
In her keynote presentation, Usec.Angela Ignacio of the Department of Finance described the country' s economy as currently at its most open with a liberal investment environment through bold legislative reforms such as the CREATE MORE Act, New PPP Code, Investors’ Lease Act, Accelerated and Reformed Right-of-Way Act, and the Capital Markets Efficiency Promotion Act.
Leaders of the PCCI and FKI deliver their respective remarks. PCCI President Ferdinand Ferrer underscored the forward-looking partnership with South Korea as the country consistently counts as a top trading partner of the Philippines in strategic sectors including electronics, semiconductors, machinery, transport equipment, mineral resources, and agricultural products.&nbsp;
Likewise South Korea supports the industrial upgrading of Filipino industries and is the source of leading foreign investments for the country.
Highlighting the Philippines-Korea Bilateral Free Trade Agreement, FKI Chairman Jin Ryo Ryu shared that there is a high potential in combining South Korea’s strength in semiconductors and advanced manufacturing with the Philippines’ young and vibrant population.&nbsp;
The event brings together an estimated 200 participants in the sectors of manufacturing, critical minerals, culture and consumer goods, and infrastructure among others. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung addressed the delegates, reaffirming strong commitment in deepening economic cooperation and bilateral relations, paving the way for an increased trade and investments between the two countries.
