In anticipation of the Philippines’ hosting of the ASEAN Summit in 2026, the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN BAC), serving as the private sector-led body in the ASEAN, has recently held its Re-imagining ASEAN BAC Retreat in Manila chaired by Malaysia and participated in by representatives from Member States. The meeting discussed several matters including the assessment of the role of the ASEAN BAC in driving the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) agenda and setting the key priorities moving forward. The Council also paid a courtesy visit to Philippine Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina A. Roque.
Present at the meeting were ASEAN BAC members PCCI Chairman George T. Barcelon, PCCI Vice President for Industry Michael G. Tan, Joey Concepcion, Kok Ping Son, Denise Khng Yu Qing, Teo Siong Seo, Oudet Souvannavong, Thanongsinh Kanlagna, Tan Sri Nazir Razak, Satvinder Singh, Jukhee Hong, Meng Nimol, Moe Kyaw and members of the ASEAN BAC Secretariat namely, Rifki Weno, Heikal Suhartono, Tanya Heryanto, Nattaya Disbungjong, and Kimberly Leong.
Since its inception in 2003 by ASEAN leaders, the ASEAN BAC continues to provide strategic recommendations on boosting economic integration, competitiveness, and inclusive growth across Southeast Asia.
