The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and the RP-Canada Business Council signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on 24 January 2002 merging the PCCI Philippine-Canada Business Committee and the RP-Canada Business Council. The surviving organization is known as the Philippines-Canada Business Council (PCBC). The Council seeks to act as one solid business group for the aggressive promotion and development of trade and investment relations between the Philippines and Canada. Moreover, the PCBC is envisioned to be the springboard of initiatives between the two countries and to be an effective channel to help both business communities gain access to respective markets. The PCBC is perceived to add strength to the PCCI as the voice of Philippine business insofar as the Canadian market is concerned. VISION Towards this end, the PCBC hopes to play an active role in facilitating rapport with the government and between Filipino and Canadian business communities with the vision of helping set a favorable economic climate. OBJECTIVES OF THE COUNCIL In pursuant of its mandate, the Council identified the following functions:
MEMBERSHIP The Council is under the International & Trade Affairs of PCCI consisting of companies and enterprises doing business and/or interested to do business with Canada. Most of the members are representatives of PCCI member-companies and affiliated business organizations. However, non-PCCI members have also expressed their interest to be actively involved in this business group. |
