Phils-Indonesia Bus. Council
To promote economic relations and enhance business linkages with our potential trading partners abroad, the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) has organized the Philippines – Indonesia Business Council (PIBC) to facilitate the conduct of business activities and the forging of more areas of collaboration between Philippine and Indonesian businessmen.
The Philippines – Indonesia Business Council is one among the many bilateral councils of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, created to provide an ideal platform for local businessmen to tap the market in Indonesia and to develop bilateral investment and trade cooperation between the two countries. The PIBC envisions itself as one of the prime movers of growth in Philippines – Indonesia trade relations. Through the Council, we hope to establish a strong channel of communication and strengthen network linkages with prospective business counterparts in Indonesia through the organization of events such as trade promotion conferences and seminars, exchange of business missions, participation in trade fairs, among others. Moreover, the PIBC aims to foster friendship and camaraderie among the businessmen of the two countries.
The PIBC is fortunate to have an active counterpart in Indonesia, the Indonesia – Philippines Business Council (IPBC) as well as PCCI’s partner, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which will serve as the links in entering into the Indonesian market.
The PIBC held the First Joint Meeting with IPBC on March 5, 2003 at the Shangri-La Hotel Makati during the visit of an Indonesian Delegation headed by Mr. Aburizal Bakrie, Chairman of Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Mr. A. Subowo, Chairman of IPBC.
The first meeting gave an insight on the areas of complementation that the two Councils can work on: tourism, transportation, trade and industry, banking, energy, among others. It concluded with a note of optimism that PIBC and IPBC will work closely on strengthening more business interaction between Philippine and Indonesian businessmen.
