 The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) is now accepting entries for the 2009 Best Business Idea and Development Award (BIDA) from July to September 2009. Open to all college students enrolled in business education and related programs endorsed by their respective college or university Deans. BIDA aims to recognize creative and innovative products or services using available local or indigenous materials; develop entrepreneurial culture and a sense of nationalism among Filipino youth, and promote entrepreneurship as major component in the Philippine economy.

STAKEHOLDERS from foreign and local business organizations yesterday convened to discuss issues and come up with a solution on the growing concern of employment mismatch in the country.
In a joint consultative meeting organized by the Universal Access to Competitiveness and Trade (U-ACT), the research and advocacy think-tank of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and the Presidential Task Force for Education, leaders from different foreign chambers, industry and academe suggested some inputs on how to bridge the gap and avoid the mismatch in terms of what is needed by the industry vis-à-vis the supply of graduates to fill in the job.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) National Commission of the Philippines will hold the Karunungan Festival II: Celebrating the Teaching of Social Studies for the 21st Century on August 29-30, 2008 at Maria Montessori Hall, O.B. Montessori Center, Inc. (OBMCI), Greenhills, San Juan Metro Manila.
The festival aims to celebrate best practices that enhance the teaching of Social Studies in the formal and nonformal sectors of the Philippine educational system so that they can be aggregated and multiplied throughout the country.
