At the beginning of the year, we reported to you that your Chamber’s thrust this year (2012) is Jobs and Livelihoods Creation.
Below are our projects / accomplishments from January to April:
a) P 20 Million ISS Fund of the Dept. of Science and Technology (DOST)
Your Chamber was appointed by DOST as Chairman of the Technical Evaluation Group of the Innovation System Support Fund (ISS Fund) From January to April, MBCCI was able to recommend for approval Innovation Projects of Seven (7) micro and small enterprises with a total support fund of close to P 9 Million. Another six (6) projects
are under review. We are targeting a minimum of (12) twelve SME beneficiaries with a total support fund of P 18-20 Million. The (12) twelve projects will generate 250 to 300 new jobs (direct and indirect) and livelihoods.
The seven (7) enterprises are the following:
- Pueblo Bakeshop
- Produce UR Own Organic (PURO) Corp.
- Vito Prints and Pieces
- Technopacer Engineering Services
- Crisvil Enterprises
- Hinigaranon Home Made Delicacies
- Upgrading Performance for Sustainable Capacities & Livelihood Enterprises in Negros (UPSCALE – Negros Inc.)
b) Capability Building Seminars

To compliment the fund assistance of DOST, your Chamber conducted seminars to enhance the managerial capabilities of the business owners and managers. In March, we conducted “Quickbooks Seminar” and in April we gave a “Seminar on Accounting for Non-Accountants”. For May and June we will conduct “Excellent Customer Service” and “Supervisory Skills Training”. A total 120 participants benefited from these two seminars. COCA COLA BOTTLERS PHILS., INC. sponsored these seminars. PEPSI COLA PRODUCTS PHILS., INC. will sponsor the next two seminars
