Visa Requirements of the State of Israel
The Department of Foreign Affairs Office of the Undersecretary for International Economic Relations advises Filipino business people and private business missions to obtain official invitation letter/s from legitimate Israeli companies and/or organizations before travelling to Israel and refrain from bringing in their checked-in luggage marketing materials and utilize instead private couriers.
In their informal meeting with Ms. Galla Levanon of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Consular Office, the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv was advised that the Israeli immigration authority’s treatment of Filipino businessmen and tourists are the same. Those holding regular passports are allowed to enter Israel for business and/or tourism without visas for 90 days.
The DFA issued the advisory in connection with the recent cases of Filipinos encountering immigration problems in entering Israel.
Canada implements changes on certificates of origin
The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Canada recently announced the new policy on certificates of origin.
Under the new policy, it is no longer required that Form A (Certificate of Origin) be signed by a certifying body in the country of export. Instead, the exporter is eligible to complete and sign the Certificate of Origin stating that the products exported meet the requirements for preferential tariff treatment.
As an alternative to Form A, the Exporters Statement of Origin may be placed directly on the invoice to accord the exporter the same preferential treatment as those who submitted Form A.
These changes are favorable to exporters of goods eligible for preferential tariffs, as well as promote closer co-ordination and co-operation within the network of importing distributors in Canada. For more information regarding Canada’s requirements for certification, visit the website of the Canada Border Services Agency at http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/dm-md/d11/d11-4-4-eng.pdf
