The PCCI Environment Committee plays a key role in promoting environmental responsibility and sustainable development in the Philippine business sector. It examines environmental policy issues and advocates for environmental protection in the context of sustainable development with the end in view of promoting business growth and bringing better quality life for all.
The Environment Committee leads in the promotion of environmental awareness in the Philippine Business Sector through the conduct of meetings, seminars and related activities. It implements projects and initiatives that would enhance the capability of enterprises to minimize their environmental impacts and at the same time realize some business gains.

EVENT OBJECTIVE:
The objective of the forum is to engage the forum participants in the collective actions that the Energy Smart program is initiating at 2 levels of interventions: (1) Government and Private Buildings (2) Economic Zones and Industrial Supply Chains.

Search is on for the Annual PCCI Environment Awards
The Philippine Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for the 2012 E3 (Excellence in Ecology and Economy) Award. The E3 Award seeks to recognize companies /enterprises that have demonstrated the most innovative and outstanding environmental performance. It recognizes companies who have shown that improving environmental performance translates to improvement in business performance and business sustainability.
The Award’s theme is “Good Environment Makes Good Business” which highlights the benefits of integrating environmental management into the business system.

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) is actively participating in the worldwide observance of Earth Hour 2012 on 31 March 2012 from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM. to create awareness on the need to take action on climate change and global warming.
“PCCI has been supporting Earth Hour for the last three (3) years but our advocacy to protect the environment and promote sustainable development started more than two decades ago” according to Atty. Miguel Varela, PCCI President. He added that “we recognize that this simple act of switching off lights for just one hour makes a big difference in our campaign to address climate change, and it is important for individuals, community, business and government to consider the environment in their daily activities.”

The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) recently conferred the 2011 Excellence in Ecology and Economy Award to Kraft Foods (Philippines), Inc. (KFPI) and Jopa Enterprises, Inc. (JEI). The award was presented by Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory Domingo during the concluding plenary of the 37th Philippine Business Conference last October 13, 2011 at the Manila Hotel.
